Architect-designed timber homes, shaped by the landscape of Scotland and chosen by clients across Ireland. HebHomes combines award-winning Dualchas design with precise off-site manufacture and a clearer route from first idea to an erected building.
Our story
HebHomes grew from Dualchas Architects, founded on the Isle of Skye in 1995 by brothers Neil and Alasdair Stephen to improve the quality of rural building. Their work reinterpreted the simple forms and careful proportions of Highland architecture for modern life.
HebHomes made that design approach available beyond one-off architectural commissions: a family of precise, build-ready homes offering greater certainty over design, quality and programme.
Why Ireland
Scotland and Ireland share exposed coasts, dramatic rural settings and a strong tradition of simple agricultural and domestic forms. We bring Scottish design and timber-building expertise to Irish projects, working alongside the professionals and contractors appointed for each site.
The result is a home with a distinctive HebHomes character that can still respond thoughtfully to its Irish landscape and planning context.
What we do
We turn proven house designs into high-performance timber kits engineered and manufactured off site. Designs can be mirrored, extended or re-planned to suit views, access, accommodation needs and the planning strategy.
Our standard Irish route is Supply + Erect. Where available, Partial or Full Turnkey adds a main-contractor service for work beyond the HebHomes package.
Design that belongs
Our homes draw on narrow forms, calm elevations and disciplined proportions. Careful siting, robust detailing and responsibly sourced timber help them sit comfortably in rural landscapes while providing excellent insulation, airtightness and low energy demand.

Led by Alasdair Stephen, our architects, technologists and project managers combine design rigour with practical construction knowledge. We give clients straight answers about scope, programme and cost, while coordinating our work with their locally appointed Irish architect or engineer, Assigned Certifier and main contractor.

Alasdair Stephen – Managing DirectorAfter graduating from Strathclyde University with an honours degree in architecture, Alasdair continued his education at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye. During this course in business studies and communications, he established Dualchas Architects with his twin brother Neil. Alasdair subsequently founded HebHomes with Neil and former director Donald John MacLennan. He has led HebHomes since 2010, growing the company with the support of its talented and dedicated team. |

Neil Stephen RIAS – DirectorNeil studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Mackintosh School of Architecture, then worked on major commercial projects in Hong Kong. His fifth-year dissertation examined the architectural and political challenges of housing in the Highlands and led to the creation of Dualchas Architects with his brother. As lead architect on the RIAS award-winning Boreraig house and a founder and director of HebHomes, Neil has helped make high-quality contemporary rural design available to a much wider public. |

Fraser Stewart – Operations DirectorAfter studying architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, Fraser focused on sustainable, high-end residential architecture in rural parts of the UK and worked with Dualchas Architects on Skye. Fraser oversees the day-to-day running of HebHomes, company strategy and service quality. He leads the client journey and helps projects progress smoothly from initial enquiry towards construction. |

Lynsey Foley – Associate / Sales + Marketing ManagerLynsey graduated in corporate communications from Queen Margaret University and held senior sales roles with major Scottish media organisations before joining HebHomes in 2011. She coordinates sales and plays a central role in marketing, communications and events—often providing clients with their first introduction to HebHomes. |

Lewis Hutchison RIAS – Architect & Senior Project ManagerLewis trained at the University of Strathclyde, completing a master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Design. His experience includes rural housing and large-scale education, student accommodation and residential projects. A qualified architect who joined HebHomes in 2020, Lewis brings extensive design and delivery experience to his role as Senior Project Manager. |

Jake Hagan – Senior Architectural TechnologistAfter studying architectural technology at the University of Brighton, Jake gained five years’ experience on complex new-build residential projects in London. He joined HebHomes in 2023 and contributes to technical delivery, the standard detail library, parametric design and the continued improvement of in-house workflows. |

Mia Delnevo Stevens – Technical ManagerMia is an experienced Senior Architectural Technologist and Project Lead with more than 11 years’ post-HND experience across residential, education, commercial, leisure and industrial projects. She brings strong technical, BIM and project-management expertise, supporting HebHomes projects from early design through detailed technical delivery and producing clear, well-coordinated information for clients, consultants and contractors. |

Sharon Clayton – Finance ManagerAfter relocating from Lancashire to the Isle of Skye, Sharon joined HebHomes and Dualchas Architects in 2011. She previously worked for a construction cost and project-management company in Manchester. Sharon is responsible for accounting and finance, where her accuracy and attention to detail are highly valued. |

Craig Stephen – DirectorCraig has more than two decades’ experience in finance as an investment analyst, corporate adviser and investor. He began his career with Cresvale Securities in Hong Kong and is Investment Director of MediaCap. He advises HebHomes on international expansion, funding and strategy and has served on the board since 2019. |

Alexandra Adams – Project Manager & Architectural DesignerAli completed a Master of Architecture at the University of Strathclyde in 2020. Her research into zero-carbon construction materials received awards from the Glasgow Institute of Architects and Royal Scottish Academy. Since joining HebHomes in 2021, she has become a key project manager, delivering high-quality designs and guiding clients throughout their build. |

Rebecca Irving RIAS – Architect & Senior Project ManagerRebecca completed her Master of Architecture in 2021 after graduating with first-class honours from the University of Strathclyde, and completed her professional accreditation in 2023. An organised and skilled designer, Rebecca guides clients through their projects and supports internal design coordination. |

Charles Tulley RIAS – Architect & Project ManagerCharles trained in both Interior & Spatial Design and Architecture, giving him a strong grounding in spatial quality, materiality and visual communication. He has worked on residential, heritage and community projects across Scotland, including sensitive rural and island sites. At HebHomes, Charles brings a thoughtful, methodical approach focused on clarity, buildability and creating buildings that sit comfortably within their landscape. |

Ami Coulter – Project Manager & Architectural DesignerAmi is a Part 2 Architectural Designer who completed her master’s degree at the University of Strathclyde, including an exchange at VUT in Brno. Her experience spans new-build commercial, renovation and marine design projects. She considers projects holistically, identifying practical solutions while bringing a meticulous and consistent approach to design. |

Billy Caparoso – Architectural TechnologistBilly holds a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology from Edinburgh Napier University. His experience covers bespoke extensions, contemporary new homes and large-scale housing developments. At HebHomes, Billy uses his technical knowledge and Revit expertise to streamline project workflows and develop the company’s standard details. |
